Our Editorial Credo in a Dozen Bites

  • We live in a God-governed universe, not a vast random accident.
  • Truth exists, and is knowable by you and me.
  • Morality is built into the very structure of reality.
  • Freedom is the master value.
  • Rights come from the Creator not the state, and they inhere in individuals not groups.
  • Free markets and private property best allocate resources and multiply wealth.
  • Democracy is possible because we are not beasts, and necessary because we are not angels.
  • The few can never know enough or care enough to rightly rule the many.
  • A word is worth a thousand pictures.
  • Newer is not necessarily better.
  • You cannot criticize the Bible; it criticizes you.
  • People matter most of all.

(Distilled over a lifetime since 1944; jotted down soon after the print debut of Andrews’ America journal in 1994)

This website is about my work as a state senator, media commentator, idea consultant, college teacher, and church elder. I am a defender of those truths and treasures that wise men have called “the permanent things.” If you are too, we should work together.

The permanent things that engage us here at AndrewsAmerica.com include America as the founders envisioned it, self-government as practiced with backbone, Colorado as a special place on earth, and civilization as entrusted to us by godly tradition. None of these can be taken for granted these days. Please help us uphold them.

I invite you to read our editorial credo at left, look around the site, contribute to our Talk Back forum, email me with your thoughts, and come here often for updates. Citizenship isn’t for spectators, it’s a contact sport, and we’d like to be a resource supporting your active participation in the American adventure.

Yours for self-government,
